Tour itinerary

Day 1

Reykjavik, Hallgrimskirkja church, Seafront

We arrive in Reykjavik, rent a cars at the airport and head to the capital. After checking into a hotel let`s begin to explore the northernmost capital in the world. Despite the location, winter in the capital of Iceland is much warmer than in Stockholm, Moscow and even Kyiv. All because of the warm sea current.

We walk to the symbol of the city - the Lutheran church of Hallgrimskirkja. This very unusual building was built for more than forty years. But the result is impressive! There is also a monument to the most famous Icelandic poet Hallgrímur Pjetursson. The church was named after him. Have you read his Passion Hymns? Let`s get to the roof to enjoy the view of the city and the bay. Next, we walk on the seafront and admire the colorful houses.

Day 2

Borgarfjord, Hrøynfossar waterfall, Barnafoss waterfall, Deildartunguhver hot springs

We stock up on food and leave for the north of Iceland. There are almost no cafes and restaurants here, so we will cook our own food in hotel kitchens. We reach Borgarfjord. If you have read Egil's Saga about the famous viking, you know that it was in these places that the first Icelandic people settled. We admire the contrasts of emerald grass, blue ocean and snow-white clouds.

The next stop is the series of Hrøynfossar waterfalls. Dozens of streams flow here from the lava field of a dormant volcano. Looks very unusual! Barnafoss waterfall is nearby. The foamy water of a completely white color flows here between black rocks from solidified lava. Nearby are the most powerful hot springs in Europe, Deildartunguhver. The water here boils with great force, and its temperature is almost one hundred degrees Celsius! Neighboring towns are heated using steam from these sources. We arrive at the hotel and prepare dinner in the kitchen.

Day 3

Snaefellsnes peninsula, Djupalonssandur black beach, Svinafellsjokull volcano, Mount Kirkjufell

In the morning we drive west to the Snaefellsnes peninsula. Known as Iceland in miniature it boasts the most famous places of the island. We will see traditional colorful Icelandic villages and churches. Wander along the black beaches of Dupalosandur, where fishing boats used to moor. Admire the view of the symbol of Iceland - the Svinafellsjokull volcano, covered with a glacier. It has not erupted in the past two hundred years, but is considered active. If you have read "Journey to the Center of the Earth" by Jules Verne, you remember that it was here that the heroes found the gates to the underworld.

We reach Mount Kirkjufell. Remember this unusual mountain covered with green grass and waterfalls at its foot? Yes, you saw these places in seasons 6 and 7 of Game of Thrones! In the evening we return to our hotel.
