Tour itinerary

Day 1-2

Antigua town, Views of three volcanoes, Palacio de los Capitanes Generals, Colonial Museum

We arrive in Guatemala City and travel to the old capital of Antigua (1 hour drive). Let`s check into a hotel and begin our walk in the city, surrounded by three volcanoes - Agua, Acatenango and Fuego. In 1773, earthquakes almost completely destroyed the city and it was decided to build a new capital - Guatemala City. We will visit the observation deck for a breathtaking picture - old colonial houses, colorful streets in the valley between the grandiose slopes of volcanoes! ..

We explore colonial churches and the Palacio de los Capitanes Generals, a former residence of the ruler of Guatemala, which was part of the Spanish Empire. To learn about Guatemala's long road to independence, we will visit the Colonial Museum.

The local cuisine is no less interesting! Let's start with the tamale, known as the oldest dish in Latin America. Tomatoes, minced meat, cheese and chili are added to the cornmeal dough, wrapped in corn leaves and steamed. Very tasty and healthy!

Day 3-4

Acatenango volcano, Night in tents on the slope, Views of erupting Fuego volcano

After breakfast we drive to the Akatenango volcano. We will conquer this giant 3,976 meters above sea level! It feels like you are climbing to the top of the world, leaving all your worries below, in the valley where the city is shining with millions of colored lights... The ascent will take about six hours with breaks for rest and lunch. We spend the night in tents on the slope, under a million bright stars.

Wake up very early to see the incredible sunrise from the slope of the Acatenango volcano and the Fuego volcano, which erupts right in front of us! It throws lava and clouds of smoke into the sky. What a sight! After breakfast, we begin to walk down to the foot of the volcano and return to the city of Antigua for the night.
