Tour itinerary

Day 1-3

The capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, Swayambhu stupa and Buddhanath stupa, Ancient cities Patan and Bhaktapur

We arrive in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, and check into a guesthouse in the old town. This city is more than 2 thousand years old, and at every step there is either an ancient palace, or a stupa, which is thousands of years old, or old colorful houses. We will walk through the entire old center - Kathmandu Durbar Square with the royal palace, the house of the living goddess Kumari, the Swayambhu stupa on the mountain and the 6th century Buddhanath stupa.

But the soul of the city is not only the shrines famous all over the world. It is in cozy narrow streets between the stupas, where children are chasing pigeons. In smiling faces of people selling the most delicious momo and masters of milk tea. In the aromatic shops of Tibetan doctors selling famous herbal remedies. In colored robes of monks and groups of pilgrims who spread on the ground in unusual prayers. And, of course, the bazaar of fabrics!

Another day we will spend in the neighboring ancient cities - Patan and Bhaktapur. These capitals of ancient kingdoms have preserved unique ancient temples and palaces

Day 4-6

The town of Shigatse, Tashilhunpo monastery

In the morning we leave for Lhasa on a specially rented transport. In 4 days we will travel for about 1000 kilometers to gradually acclimatize to altitudes of 4000-5200 meters above sea level. Get ready for incredible views of the mountains, blue lakes, and the Tibetan desert, and stops at the main spiritual centers of Tibet. We will be spending nights in hotels.

First night we will spend in Rasu Vaghadi. Second night in Nyalam. Then we arrive in Shigatse, where we will visit the 15th century Tashilhunpo monastery. This palace is also called little Potala. And if Potala is the residence of the Dalai Lama, then the second most important person in Tibet lives here - the Panchen Lama. More then a thousand monks share it with him. This monastery boasts huge stupas of gold and precious stones, each holding a body of lama from the past. Also, this monastery is home to the largest statue of Buddha-Maitreya in Tibet. 280 kilograms of gold, the same amount of silver, 40 diamonds and a thousand large pearls were used for this work of art 26 meters tall. Impressive!

Day 7-8

The town of Gyantse, Kumbum stupa, Sacred Yamdrok lake

We arrive in Gyantse - a small town in the valley at an altitude of 4100 meters above sea level. There are less than 10 thousand people living here, but this town is considered to be the third most important in Tibet. All because of the unusual Kumbum stupa - one of the few multi-storied stupas in the world. All its halls and numerous niches hold hundreds of ancient Buddha statues. Pilgrims from all over Nepal and other countries come here to roll the prayer wheels and bring offerings to local monks. We will watch unusual rituals and prayers-prostrations on the ground.

Next stop - Yamdrok lake. This is one of the four sacred lakes of Tibet. The water here is clean, like crystal - after all, the lake feeds on melt water from the mountains, which flows down here in streams. It is as blue as the sky on a sunny day. The blue in the frame of the mountain peaks - beautiful! Lazy yaks graze on the shores - indispensable attributes of any Tibetan landscape. Sit down and enjoy the scenery and intoxicating mountain air.

In the evening of the last day, we arrive in Lhasa, the capital of the Tibetan Autonomous Region, and check into a hotel
