We will visit three oldest Buddhist countries in the world, one of which - Bhutan, is considered the happiest in the world. Let's start with picturesque India, where we'll visit Darjeeling and Sikkim - the former Himalayan kingdom. In Nepal we will see the stunning valley of Kathmandu with its ancient cities and temples. The highlight of the trip is the mysterious Bhutan, where the Buddhist idea of happiness became a state principle.

Is this trip for you?

The trip is of light physical grade. It includes two short flights, walks in cities and towns, riding jeeps for up to 9 hours with visiting places of interest on the way. We will also do an easy 4 hours long trek. Accommodation in tourist class hotels and guesthouses, most of them will have hot water and wi fi internet.

The price of the trip includes:

  • Accommodation in double/twin rooms of tourist class hotels and guesthouses during the entire trip;
  • All transportation;
  • Visa to Bhutan;
  • Food in Bhutan;
  • Guiding services during the entire trip.

To be paid separately:

  • Flight to Delhi and from Delhi (or Kathmandu) back home;
  • Flights Delhi-Bagdogra ($50), Paro-Kathmandu ($225), (and Kathmandu-Delhi ($90) if you decide to fly back home from Delhi));
  • Insurance (mandatory);
  • Entry tickets to museums, palaces, park and other plces of interest ($50);
  • Food in India and Nepal ($10-15 per person per day);
  • Visas to India and Nepal.

Tour itinerary

Day 1-3

Flight to Bagdogra, than jeeps to Kalimpong (2.5 hours on the way). We check into a hotel and visit Zang Dhok Palri Phodang monastery. We travel to Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim 1600 meters above sea level (5-6 hours on the way). On the way we will visit Rumtek Monastery - the biggest monastery in Sikkim. We enjoy stunning views of Kangchenjunga mount, those interested can visit the local zoo, known for its collection of red pandas. We will also visit Institute of Tibetology with rare collection of old books.

Day 4-5

We leave for Yuksom (8-9 hours trip), on the way visiting the monastery in Tashiding. According to legend, it was built on the site where the arrow dropped by Guru Rinpoche fell. Yuksom is a small village where many Himalayan treks begin. We visit the picturesque lake and the monastery of Dubdi - the oldest monastery of the state, hidden in the forest, from where you can enjoy beautiful views of the mountains.

Day 6

Trip to Darjeeling (8-9 hours), the “kingdom of hills” 2300 meters above sea level, famous for its elite black tea. We check into a hotel and walk in the town. Next morning we take a bus to the Tiger hill on the border with Nepal, where we will marvel at the stunning landscape with the famous Kanchenjunga mountain. We will also visit the famous Tibet monastery nearby and take the ropeway above tea plantations to the tea factory.
