Day 1

Mexico City Rite of aura purification Traditional Mexican music

We arrive in Mexico City, and check into a hotel in the historic center. We will walk in the center, observing colorful local life. Those who wish can undergo a popular rite of purification of aura on the street. One of the "Oryol i Reshka. Reboot." presenters Anton Ptushkin did it and was not very impressed... But it's worth a try! For an unusual ritual, the street performer will use some basil and mint, seashell and smoking coals. Evil eye protection guaranteed!

Try pulque- a traditional alcoholic drink of the ancient Aztecs, made from fermented agave juice. In ancient times, it was considered a sacred drink and could only be used by people of a certain status. Since that time, much has changed! ... And what kind of Mexico City would it be without traditional Mexican music? We listen to the heartbreaking songs of folk groups mariachi which date back to at least the 18th century. It has a distinctive instrumentation, singing styles, and clothing.

Day 2

Mayan city Teotihuacan

In the morning we take off to the Teotihuacan complex - one of the largest ancient cities in Mexico. Just imagine - this city was founded in the 4th century BC and was one of the largest in the world! Already in the 8th century, it was abandoned, and the Aztecs who came here were so amazed at what they saw that they immediately claimed the Teotihuacs to be their own ancestors.

We will climb the famous pyramids of the Sun and the Moon and walk along the Street of the Dead along the surviving ancient houses. The best scientists have long been puzzled over the purpose of these pyramids. Many believe that they imitated the afterlife and were used as platforms for sacrifices, including human ... Look at the wonderfully preserved frescoes. Are these stories captured here?

Day 3 - 4

The Museum of Anthropology The city of Merida

In the morning we go to the main museum of the country - the Museum of Anthropology. Do not like museums? You will love this one! It boasts a unique collection of statues and objects found in the ancient cities of the Maya, Aztec, Zapotec, Olmec and other pre-Columbian civilizations of Mexico. Perhaps the most famous exhibit is the Stone of the Sun, which is also called the Aztec calendar. Also here are stored the giant stone heads of the ancient Olmecs, bright burial masks and other treasures.

Next day we fly to Merida, the capital of the state of Yucatan and the main city of the peninsula of the same name. We check into a hotel and go for a walk along the streets that resemble European cities.

Day 5

Cenote, sinkhole caves

In the morning we begin our exploration of cenotes, the world famous landmarks of the Yucatan. Imagine a limestone cave with the collapsed roof. It is a sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater underneath. This open caves are filled with light and the purest clear water. Some cenotes resemble amazing huge wells. This is a paradise for lovers of swimming, exploration of the underwater world and exotic fish.

We will enjoy several cenotes, and visit some other, which were considered sacred by the ancient Maya who used to perform their rituals here. They believed that a person who immersed himself in this water begins a new life... We will also travel deeper into the province of the state to find out why they built a railway track for horses. For the night we return to Merida.

Day 6

Ancient city of Chichen Itza

We plunge into the history of Mexico before Columbus and visit the ancient city of Chichen Itza - one of the seven new wonders of the world! (Getting there will take 2 hours). The famous pyramid of Kukulkan is situated here. Scientists believe that this grand pyramid with a height of 24 meters served not only as a temple, but also a calendar. After all, 365 steps divided into 18 sections lead to the top of the pyramid - the Mayans believed that there were not 12 months, but 18 months in a year.

At the top of the pyramid stands a small temple with four entrances. It was used for sacrifices. Scientists believe that young men from noble families were offered as sacrifices to Kukulkan in this temple. We will learn more about the Mayan calendar, the cult of the god Kukulkan, who they believed bestowed the calendar on them, and understand why so many architectural styles are mixed in this ancient city.

Day 7 - 8

Lakes with pink flamingos Swimming in cenotes

The natural wonders of the Yucatan never cease to amaze us. We leave to the Gulf of Mexico, the village of Las Coloradas. Here we ride boats on unique lakes with pink water. This is the favorite place of hundreds of pink flamingos! And we will be very close to these graceful beautiful birds ...

Next day is active. We will be swimming in the purest cenotes, go snorkeling and bungee jumping.

Day 9

Isla Mujeres island

Hello Caribbean! We travel to Cancun, and from there by ferry go to the island of Isla Mujeres. We check into a hotel and begin our acquaintance with an amazing island, which the ancient Maya considered as the abode of the fertility goddess Ish-Chel. Masha Gamayun, the presenter of the “Oryol i Reshka. Sea season” was amazed by these beaches!

Absolutely white sand, transparent water of emerald color and bright green palm trees - these places will not leave anyone indifferent! Photos from Isla Mujeres are not processed by any filters!
