Tour itinerary

Day 1-4

Isla Mujeres island, Beaches, Diving and snorkeling, Palenque

We arrive in Cancun and take a ferry to the island of Isla Mujeres (1 hour on the way). We will rest on the cleanest sandy beach with crystal clear turquoise water. If there is paradise, then it should look like this! Lovers of the underwater world can go snorkelling or diving. Rested and fresh, in the evening we return to Cancun and board a comfortable night bus to Palenque.

In the morning we check into a hotel and go out for a walk in the famous Mayan city in the middle of the wild jungle. Only one and a half thousand years ago, life was raging here, and now we are treading the ruins of the pyramids, temples, the palace and the observatory...

New treasures are still being found in Palenque! In 1999, a tomb and an altar with inscriptions and bas-reliefs were excavated here. In 2018 - the burial mask of King Pakal was found. There are many new discoveries ahead, because scientists are sure that only a tenth of the ancient city has been explored!..

Day 5-7

Misol Ha and Aqua Azul waterfalls, San Cristobal de las Casas, Mayan rituals

We say goodbye to Palenque and drive to the Misol Ha and Aqua Azul waterfalls (two hours on the way). What a joy it is to dive into clear water, enjoy the wild jungle and the sound of the water. You almost cannot help but think of Indiana Jones films!

Three more hours on the road - and we are in the city of San Cristobal de las Casas. We check into a hotel and after a short rest head out to admire the romantic Spanish architecture, cozy houses of all colors of the rainbow and noisy bazaars.

Next morning we will visit the neighboring town of San Juan Chamula, which we love for its very unusual church. Icons, crosses - everything is as usual... And right in the middle of the church, parishioners sacrifice chickens! The ritual is washed down with local alcohol mixed with cola and danced to cheerful music. A Christianity like you have never seen before! By the way, filming the service is strictly prohibited - the locals believe that the photos anger God and spoil human souls.

Day 8-10

Sumidero canyon, Pochutla village, New Year on the beach

Today we will take a boat trip in one of the deepest canyons on our planet - Sumidero. We may even meet crocodiles here. And then we will look at these rocks more than a kilometer high from several viewing platforms. In the evening we board a comfortable night bus to Pochutla (12 hours on the way).

We wake up on the Pacific coast and check into a hotel. Wonderful beaches, walks to nearby villages, and the freshest seafood await us. We will spend New Year's Eve in one of the waterfront restaurants. Those interested can join the parties on the beach, where locals and tourists usually dance salsa and sing songs until the morning.

Don't worry - we have a day off on January 1st. You can relax, visit the Turtle Center, and the lagoon with iguanas and crocodiles.
