Tour itinerary

Day 1-2

Malaysia`s capital Kuala Lumpur, Batu caves, Bird park, Petronas twin towers, Street food on Alor

We begin our group trip to Malaysia and Indonesia when we arrive in a modern metropolis of Kuala Lumpur - the capital of Malaysia, and check into a hotel. After some rest we take a subway to Batu caves, which are revered by Hindus as sacred. The entrance to the caves is guarded by a 42-meter statue of the god Murugan. We climb the stairs and walk in another world - a huge cave, illuminated only by thin streams of light from above. The second cave is completely dark - in order to walk inside we will take lanterns. Imagine the amazement of British naturalists who accidentally discovered these caves in the midst of the wild jungle in 1878!

We have lunch in the Indian vegetarian restaurant next to the caves which serves excellent traditional thali - rice, vegetables, and beans, and lassi - a yogurt drink. Head to the world's largest indoor bird park. Here, practically in the center of the city, thousands of the most exotic birds live, and almost all of them fly around completely free! A huge grid, thrown on the tops of the trees throughout the park keeps them from escaping. We will see orange ibises, clumsy swamphen with red noses, hornbills, peacocks, pink flamingos. And many more!

In the evening, we walk around the most modern districts of the capital - the Bukit Bintang district, around the Petronas Twin Towers, and watch a light show. For dinner we head to the famous street food Alor. Pay special attention to seafood!

Day 3-4

Malacca, Museum of History and Ethnography, Teluk Bahang national park, Penang food

In the morning we leave by bus to the most ancient city of Malaysia - Malacca (3 hours on the way). We will spend the day walking among the old terracotta-colored houses, exploring the river by the boat, and observing the local life. Learn more about the history and many cultures of Malaysia, visiting the Museum of History and Ethnography. After lunch we will walk to the top of the hill with the ruins of the Portuguese fortress. In the evening we return to Kuala Lumpur and fly to Penang Island (1 hour). We check into a hotel in the historic center.

In the morning we head to the jungle of the Teluk Bahang National Park in the north of the island. We will wade along narrow paths, relax on quiet, completely deserted beaches and see a place where the rare species of turtles breeds. We return to the city and in the evening visit one of the iconic food courts. Surely, you have heard that Penang is known as one of the world's food capitals. And it is very deserved! We will try the famous Chinese steam dim sum, Indian chicken in red sauce and Malay dish nasi lemak made from coconut rice, anchovy, eggs and cucumbers.

Day 5-7

The largest monastery in Southeast Asia, Streets of Georgetown, Famous food courts, Ampana

We begin our morning in the largest monastery in Southeast Asia - the temple of Ten Thousand Buddhas, known as Kek Lok Si. We pass by a snow-white pagoda to the observation deck, which offers a wonderful view of Georgetown. We observe the parishioners and, if lucky, the Buddhist ceremony, and then on a small cable car get to the highest part of the temple. Looming over this part is a bronze statue of the goddess of mercy Guanyin, more than 30 meters tall. Her face is turned towards the sea, and her back is turned towards a completely different, rural part of Penang.

After lunch, we return to the city and begin to explore the famous old streets of Georgetown, listed in the UNESCO World Heritage List. This is not a glamorous museum area - people still live here. Like three hundred years ago, families live on the second floor of traditional Chinese shops, known as shophouses, and on the first floor they work — run a shop, cafe, or workshop. We observe local life, try the most delicious dishes in eateries that we have been visiting for many years.

The next morning we continue our guided tour to Malaysia and Indonesia with a flight to the city of Makassar in Indonesia. We will spend the night in a hotel in the transit zone of the airport, and in the morning fly to the city of Luwuk. The car will take us to Ampana (5 hours on the way). Foreigners rarely visit this small city, and those that do, immediately get on the boat to Togean Islands. We will have time to walk around this very authentic town and see the local life. We spend the night in local hotel.
