Ancient cities, beautiful nature and amazingly hospitable people - during this trip to neighboring countries on different shores of the Caspian Sea. We will see the deserts and caravanserais, palaces and treasures of shahs, waterfalls and mountains and enjoy the region's unique cuisine.

  • Day 1
    Arrival in Tehran, checking into a hotel. It is here that we begin our group trip to Iran and Azerbaijan! We will visit the museum of national treasures in the Central Bank of Iran. This unique collection of jewelry, encrusted weapons, clothing and furniture is more than 500 years old. We will visit the royal palace of Golestan, with its marble throne room, the diamond hall and others. After lunch, a walk through the Grand Bazaar - one of the biggest covered markets in the world.
  • Day 2
    We will visit the modern symbols of the capital - the Freedom Memorial on the Azadi square and Milad tower. Lunch, departure to Isfahan (about 6 hours on the way). Arrival in Isfahan at night, checking into a hotel.
  • Day 3
    We will visit the Imam Square, surrounded by several ancient mosques and known as one of the largest squares in the world! Also we will visit the bazaar and dine in the restaurant of traditional cuisine. We stroll through the Persian park Chekhel Sotun, which was built by Shah Abbas II in the 17th century. The highlight of the park is a Forty Columns palace - 20 columns are real, and another 20 are reflected in the lake. We will also see the famous Isfahan bridges, in particular, the famous Joubi - the 147-meter bridge of the XVII century. We might also visit an impromptu concert in the evening.
  • Day 4
    We will visit the Armenian quarter with many cozy cafes, and the 18th century Orthodox Vank Cathedral with unique frescoes. We will then go to the Mount Soffeh just outside the city. We will ride the cable car to the top and enjoy the views.
  • Day 5
    We continue our guided tour to Iran and Azerbaijan with a bus trip to Shiraz, the cultural capital of Iran with more than 4,000 thousand years of history (6 hours on the way). Checking into a hotel. We will visit the real site of Iranian pilgrimage - the tomb of the famous Persian poet Hafez.
  • Day 6
    We will visit the famous Pink mosque with amazing mosaics, and admire the colorful rays of the rising sun through the colorful glass. We will also visit the XIV century mirror mausoleum of Shah Cheragh.
  • Day 7
    Early departure to Yazd, one of the oldest cities in Iran, known from the third millennium BC (6 hours on the way). On the way, we will visit Persepolis, the "City of Persians," the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid state of the 6th century BC, built by the Persian king Darius and destroyed by Alexander the Great. We will also walk in Pasargadae - ruins of the city that was the capital of Persia before Persepolis. Evening arrival in Yazd, checking into a hotel.
  • Day 8
    Yazd is known as one of the ancient cities of Iran, dating back two thousand years. It is also considered the center of one of the oldest world religions - Zoroastrianism. We will visit the local Zoroastrian temple and the Towers of Silence - the places of Zoroastrian burials. Another attractions include the Grand Mosque of the XVI century and mazy adobe old center..
  • Day 9
    Morning trip to Kerman (about 5 hours on the way). Lunch, and a trip to the Kaluts desert. Checking into a guesthouse run by the local family. Dinner.
  • Day 10
    Meeting dawn in the desert, returning for breakfast. A short trip to Mahan. Return to Kerman, walk through the city. Night train to Kashan.
  • Day 11
    In the morning we arrive in Kashan, check into a hotel and have breakfast. Then we go to the village of Abyane in the mountains (about 2 hours on the way). Abyane is an ancient village listed as the UNESCO World Heritage site. We stroll through the narrow streets, between the houses of red bricks and admire ancient architecture. In the evening we go back to Kashan and see the city from the roof of the old hammam.
  • Day 12
    Our guided tour to Iran and Azerbaijan has taken us to Kashan, a town famous for its silk and carpets, which is considered one of the most beautiful ancient cities in Iran. We take a stroll through the old neighborhoods and visit the traditional houses of the local nobility. Bus to Teheran (4 hours on the way). Checking into a hotel.
  • Day 13
    We will visit the northern part of the capital of Iran, we will visit Sa'adat Abad neighborhood wuth palaces and museums. Sa'adat Abad is now the official residence of the incumbent president. We also take a walk in the park on Mount Darband.
  • Day 14
    We will visit the unique Tabiat pedestrian bridge connecting the Water and Fire Park and the Taleghani Forest. Late evening flight to Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. We check into a hotel in the old town.
  • Day 15-16
    We have come to the second half of our small group trip to Iran and Azerbaijan. Let`s wander through the labyrinths of the narrow streets of old Baku, walk to the Maiden Tower - the symbol of the capital of Azerbaijan, visit the palace and the Shirvanshah mosque and discover unique Islamic architecture of the 15th century. In the evening we enjoy the panorama of the night city and try traditional meals in the famous local restaurant. In the morning we will travel for 30 km outside the city to visit the Ateshgah fire temple - a place of pilgrimage of Zoroastrians, Hindus and Sikhs. We will also visit the burning hill of Yanardag, described in the travels of the legendary Marco Polo, and visit the unique settlement of Gala. More than two hundred of its buildings have survived since the 3rd millennium BC!
  • Day 17-18
    In the morning we go to the famous Petroglyph Museum in the mountainous town of Gobustan (one and a half hours on the way). Here we will see the rock paintings of the Stone Age period and see the real mud volcanoes. Then move to Gabala (about 3 hours on the way) where we check into a hotel. Gabala is one of the oldest cities in Azerbaijan, founded more than 2 thousand years ago. In the morning we will visit the ruins of the city, then explore the defensive shafts and unique watchtowers, get acquainted with the way of life of those times and taste the famous Gabala baklava and tea near the picturesque waterfall. Evening transfer to Sheki by minibus (about 1.5 hours on the road). Checking into a guesthouse.
  • Day 19
    Sheki has always been considered the center of folk crafts. We will walk around the city, visit the bazaar and try local sweets. We will also explore the palace of Shaki Khan Huseyn, built more than two centuries ago without a single nail. On the outskirts of Shaki in the ancient village of Kish we will visit the ancient Christian church. Evening bus to Qakh (half an hour on the way), checking into a hotel.
  • Day 20
    We travel to the picturesque mountain village of Ilisu. On the way we will visit the Georgian church and the ancient mosque, stop at one of the oldest bridges in Azerbaijan, climb the Sumu Gal tower and the fortress of Sheikh Shamil. In the evening - a traditional kebab in the chestnut garden. Night train to Baku (approximately 11 hours on the way).
  • Day 21
    Arrival in Baku, checking into a hotel. After breakfast and some rest we will take a short 30 km trip to visit the temple of fire Ateshgah, a Fire temple of Baku, a place of pilgrimage for Zoroastrians, Hindus and Sikhs. We will also visit the burning Yanar Dag Fire Mountain, described in the travels of the legendary Marco Polo, and discover the unique settlement of Gala. More than two hundred of its buildings survive from 3 millennia BC! In the evening we come back to Baku.
  • Day 22
    We travel to the airport and fly back home. Our group trip to Iran and Azerbaijan has come to an end. Thank your for discovering these two countries with us!

Is this trip for you? 

This trip is of easy physical grade. It includes walks in cities and towns. We will be moving around in buses and trains, as well as use metro and other public transportation. We will spend two nights in trains. Accommodatio in double/twin rooms of tourist class hotels and guesthouses. Almost all of them will have wi fi internet.
