Tour itinerary

Day 1-2

Delhi, Muslim cafes of Old Delhi, Central Secretariat, Lodi gardens

In Delhi we check into a hotel in the Paharganj district. For lunch let`s head to Old Delhi, a colorful Muslim cafe, known for their perfect Afghan-style chicken, bread in a clay oven and other traditional dishes of North Indian cuisine.

We leave for New Delhi, to the area of government buildings known as Secretariat. It boasts grandiose ministry buildings built by British colonists, as well as the official residence of the country's president. For silence and coolness, we head to the gardens of Lodi known for the 15th century tombs of the rulers of India. Delhi lovers love to date in this park.

Day 3

Red fort, The main mosque of India, Lotus temple, Kalkaji temple, Lights show

In the morning we go to the Red Fort and the main mosque of India - Jama Masjid. These iconic sights are located in the heart of old Delhi and are surrounded by a huge bustling bazaar, which has been located on this place for hundreds of years. Mind your feet but do not forget to look around!

Moving on to newer, but equally well-known places, we will visit the famous Lotus Temple of the Bahai faith. This teaching preaches the unity of all religions. Built in 1986 in the form of a lotus flower, the temple is considered a house of prayer for believers of all religions. Reading sacred books or ceremonies are not welcome here, but visitors can go inside for a short meditation, or a silent prayer.

Just nearby there is another, very different Hindu temple known as Kalkaji. It is known for the ancient images of the Indian goddess Kali. In the evening, we will watch the light show in the Old Fortress, which is dedicated to the history of Delhi.

Day 4-5

Jaipur, Forts of Amer and Jaigarh, Palace of Winds, Watching Bollywood movie in the old cinema

In the morning we leave for Jaipur by train (4 hours on the way). We check into a hotel in the Hatroy area, rest and head to the grand Amer Fort. This is a huge fortress on the mountain, from the top of which we will observe the city below and the picturesque slopes. Around the fortress lies the small sleepy Amer town. Tourists do not come here, but we will wander here along the small streets to listen to the silence and see how the Indians lived a hundred years ago.

We go to the Jaigarh fort. It was built in case the Amer fortress is captured by enemies. The Raja and his entourage could have fled to Jaigarh through an underground tunnel. We return to Jaipur to walk through the narrow streets of the Pink City. You will definitely recognize the Hawa Mahal Palace of Winds from photos! Not so long ago, women from the rajah's family sat behind these windows, watching the life on the street. They were not allowed to appear in public! We will also visit the Raja's Palace. Only a part of the palace will be opened for us, as the rest of it is still occupied by the members of the royal family.

We see off the sun over the horizon at the top of the hill and join the locals on their way to the cinema. Movies in India are so much more than just movies!
